Jade Introduces Blind Benny with B-Sides Remix EP
There’s still a lot of wear left in Jade’s It’s My Heart Cookie EP from last year. All it takes is remixing to turn a slept-on album about love hangovers and heartbreak into this year’s unforgettable fling that will never leave. There’s just one string attached: don’t call her Jade, she’s going as Blind Benny, not to confuse her original name with ’90s one-hit wonders, or an awful David Caruso flick that should never see the light of TNT.
The rest of the b-sides is a rejuvenated impression of Blind Benny that we didn’t get to see in some of her more melancholy material produced by GFC-NY’s Precize and Cool Kid Chuck Inglish. She’s just putting music to the process—break up songs result in make up songs, it doesn’t take a virgin to figure that out. What she’s got on her hands with this re-introduction is seduction on wax… candles are welcome too. Look for the full length remix project this spring.

Kelis Dual MP3 Leak: “4th of July” “22nd Century” (Update)
After the Black Eyed Peas dominated 2009 with “I Got A Feeling,” pretty much every special occasion has to be ruined celebrated with the song once the confetti starts flying. There’s no denying Will.i.am’s talent, or his eye for it—Shakur, even Fergie (::cringe::)—which is why it’s hard to be mad at him producing Kelis’ Interscope album, Flesh Tone.
Coming from left-field not looking or sounding like other pop females pre-Y2K, no one also saw the next wave of ladies that would be cut from the same cloth as Kelis Rogers. Not putting out new material in four years hasn’t knocked her off her pedestal but her seat is definitely up for grabs. That’s why it should be no surprise to see Kelis traveling another road less-traveled having internationally renowned DJ/producers at the helm, and now Free School (prod. Kid Cudi’s “Up Up & Away, and “Heart of a Lion”) whip up a near 6 minute song, long enough for a bathroom break in the middle of the fireworks. Remember Wanderland put her far ahead of her American a-alikes earning her an instant European following. After the jump, she straps the U.S. on her back for Independence Day.

Video: Kelis “Acapella”
Biters pay attention: Kelis is here, again. Her new video brings another trend forward, headdresses. Carnaval and every country that hosts the massive outdoor procession, there are pants-less women dancing in headdresses. Could a summer release from Kelis Rogers possibly inspire sweaty naked dancing through the streets? If not, how about some glowing hypnotizing shades to start, mmkay?

Video: David Byrne & Fatboy Slim f. Santigold “Please Don’t”
Referencing Barack Obama in music is so 2009. That’s why we’re excited for David Byrne and Fatboy Slim’s part-concept, part-tribute album to the first lady of the Phillippines, Imelda Marcos. The album which drops April 6th features a predominantly female cast of collaborators, from Florence and the Machine, Sharon Jones, to Santigold on the lead single “Please Don’t.” Here’s the clip, choc-full of footage of Imelda the fashion icon running the map meeting former presidents and diplomats.

Quadron’s Debut Album Sets Off Spring
Scandinavia, you’ve done it again. Next week Europe’s northern region will bestow another great gift on the States, her name is Coco from the Danish pop group, Quadron. It’s about time too: new season, a new beginning where we say goodbye (for now) to the winter wifey Lykke Li, who was Sweden’s sultry pin-up chanteuse, and say hello Coco’s thicker, more confident tone.

Video: Get International Soul in Eurovision
For those of who you who have not been keeping up to date with the Eurovision Song Competition (this means non-Europeans stuck on FiOs), the 2010 songs are hitting YouTube, and there are a few you should definitely check out. A Suite903 favorite is Eva Rivas’ submission for Armenia called “Apricot Stone.” Eva’s vocals can compete with any female R&B vocalist in the U.S., once you get past the fruit-bearing title. Not as exciting as the sexually explicit material coming out of the states, but vocally exciting nonetheless. After Armenia, honorable mention goes out to Portugal with a solid performance by Filipa Azevedo on “Ha Dias Assim.” Romania would get a heavy nod too if they didn’t blatantly rip off a Lady Gaga riff (1:06), but it’s still worth checking out for a laugh.–Eric Sandler
Video: Sabrina Washington, “OMG” (Oh My Gosh)
It’s high time the U.S. start importing girl groups because the ones here are lucky if their careers last longer than their menstrual cycles. Bickering (3LW) and raging hormones (Destiny’s Child), have put some of our favorite female collectives in the can, but in the U.K., the folding of Mis-Teeq’s record label Telstar Records was partly at fault.
Alesha Dixon was the first of Mis-Teeq’s threesome to jump off with a solo career, and some modeling (N.E.R.D’s video for “She Wants To Move”) but Sabrina Washington and her fine self is showing the most promise. She pulls no punches by putting her goods on the glass (peep the first outfit), even if haters want her to send her style back to the GaGa store. Whatever. Go in ma, and stay there longer than Alesha did.
Has Bobby Ray Got Nothing On Bruno Mars?

For four strong years between 2006 and now, Bobby Ray couldn’t get any play from the ladies. Dude tried his best: he rapped, produced, played guitar, even sang his own hooks for the most part. The downside is that self-proclaimed weirdo thing, which doesn’t get the panties dropping like a hook from Bruno Mars.
Rihanna Has Plenty More In Store
Seems like the Rihanna camp is using the internet as a focus group. After the disappointment that was “Russian Roulette,” two more singles dropped on the internet this week. The first one “Wait Your Turn” is completely nonsensical. What is this song is talking about? Football? Sexual football metaphors? The first verse is about pitching and swinging (baseball?) so how did we get to fumbles?
The second single “Hard” is unbelievable. As in “I don’t believe you; you need more people.” Apparently all the studded leather has gone to RiRi’s head. Even Jeezy doesn’t add credibility to her hood pass. The song is much more upbeat and jams better than the previous two but I can’t say I see her as “the hottest bitch in heels” (Cough Beyonce.)
If these leaks tell us anything for certain its that we have no idea what this album is going to sound like. Apparently this one spans the schizophrenic spectrum, from suicide to sports to swagger as well as the fact that RiRi has suddenly regained her accent. The wait is ova but I’m still not sure it was worth it.—Judnick Mayard
