Audio: Trazz F/Lloyd “Internet Love”

When New York rap isn’t under fire, too bad the rest of the state goes unnoticed. Trazz doesn’t get salty like the ground in his snow-ridden hometown of Buffalo, he’s got bangers like his latest with Lloyd to remind you that the Big Apple stretches beyond the five boroughs.
Don’t let the title of the cyber love opus fool you though, it’s not the same ol’ song sung by rapping technophiles. History has proven you can’t trust songs that involve sexting, e-mailing nude pics, or the flavor of the month, Chatroulette. We come to expect a sample of Zapp & Roger’s “Computer Love,” followed by a subsequent video of models spending what brain cells are left on their pewters. The Trazz twist is a little less predictable. Listen below.

Lloyd & Young Money, “Bedrock Part 2″ MP3

Because we always got your back, we’ve found a way for you to excuse the million times you play this song everyday. It’s a new version! Actually it’s the perfect version: MORE Lloyd. The only thing we’re wondering about is why Young Goldie? Does he mean hot like a young Goldie Hawn, because we get that. Whatever, this version is crack. Never mind that the metaphors are kinda corny, it’s Lloyd!! You weren’t even listening to what he was saying anyway. Personally, they could’ve skipped the Weezy and Drizzy verses. Got a fever; NEED MORE LLOYD. -Judnick Mayard

Lloyd f. J. Holiday, “Take It Off”
We might be grasping for straws here, but two dudes telling one girl to take it off seems a little frat party rape-y, no? Aside from a unfair numbers game, this still knocks cause “Lloyd Mayweather” and J. Holiday are singing over some kind of space-thump that sounds like Jeezy should be rapping over it, and have probably creating the trap star equivalent of New Jack Swing. New Trap Swing? Oh shit, we on one!

Lloyd To Ciara: “Move B*tch, Get Out The Way!!!”
Just before we get into this, keep in mind: R&B is the new rap these days. Beefs between artists, singers getting dropped (we see you Omarion!), Chris Brown going Ike Turner, man oh man…word? And now this….Lloyd talking greasy as Church’s Chicken towards 50 Cent’s jump-off, the new Princess of R&B, Ciara.
Now Benzino might not be on the cover of Hip Hop Weekly, but we must warn…be wary of the words you’re getting ready to read…in other terms, be prepared to hear and see Lloyd dropping a Vimeo explanation of what he “really” meant soon. He told Hip Hop Weekly, “I don’t f**k with Hollywood b*tches and she’s like one of the chicks that’s just changed along the way with the fame and the money and all of that…I don’t really get down with her anymore on some real sh*t. The truth hurts, but it will set you free. But I wish her all the best.”
(LAUGH!!!) Are you (beep, beep beep like Missy) kidding me? In addition to calling her a “Hollywood B*tch” and saying she changed with the fame, he also elegantly states “the truth hurts” like he’s product-placing Dr. Dre and ‘ish…please. The Internet game is sticky these days and without artists saying their peace via an actual video, it gets pretty, pretty, prett-y (”Curb Your Enthusiasm” is back!) sticky with these situations.
However, not trying to leave you guys with an “R&B Meets Beef” feel, let’s take a second to shine light on Ciara’s upcoming album.
Now according to the good folks at Singersroom, ol’ girl is currently in the middle of putting together a new album where she has equipped The-Dream (isn’t he retiring soon?) and Tricky Stewart. The solo project is slated for an early 2010 release and contains about 14 records so far.
“She came out to L.A. to work with us. We’re out here making this record ’cause it feels good and the vibe is good,” Tricky said in an interview with Rap-Up. “This record obviously is gonna have tempo to it, but I think it’s gonna have even more substance than the last record…She dances and we always want to bring out what she does that other people don’t.”
With Lloyd tossing a few shots her way, Bow Wow a distant memory and sloppy record sales from “Fantasy Ride,” it should be interesting to see what goodies Ciara has to offer this next album up. (Just please, no more 50 Cent collaborations…EVER.) -Cyrus Kyle Langhorne
Lloyd f. Juelz Santana, “Pusha”
These breathy, swimming-through-a-cloud numbers are exactly the type of song we’ve come to know and love from young Lloyd, but this time around he’s brought along some pretty questionable songwriting. Love as a drug is a tired metaphor to be sure, but that’s far from the worst of it. Cobain, Cobain [gunshot sound] She blows my brain? For real, Lloyd? That shit is fucked up, man. At this point we’re going to strongly advise you to jump back in the stu and punch in something a little less disrespectful. Juelz on the other hand, plays it nice and safe putting love above even weed. Sounds like someone’s ready for commitment.

Lloyd, “Pusha”
Although he’s no Curtis Mayfield, Lloyd knows or two about a “Pusha.” In this track he compares his lady’s love to cocaine–and although not exactly the healthiest of vices, he doesn’t seem so mad about it. He can’t get enough, feels good when he’s with her, but cocaine, ecstasy… are these the only references he had? I mean cupcakes make me feel that way, or maybe ice cream–why not call her Mrs. Softee? Produced by The Runners, the song is a leaked track from his upcoming album. No word on the release, but we will keep you posted.

Lloyd, “Like Me” MP3

Despite being sans label, Lloyd continues to drop tracks and/or have the voice of a swathe of silk, dripping tracks on deliciously syrupy neo-quiet storm beats, this one produced by Jim Jonsin. He’s the one new dude that could believably sing a Mike Jack track and not offend or swagger jack: his voice has the same airy quality that feels like floating in a pool under the sun, even on this “MJB the MVP”-style autobiographical jam.
