R&B gone digital! This could be one of those moments like Al Gore planting the flag on his “invention of the internet,” or say Trey Songz declaring “he invented sex.” But the title for crafting the 8-bit-everything sound of “Gamez” probably falls somewhere between the two. That’s no slight at Jamie Foxx, Drake and Kanye’s handling of “Digital Girl,” but Bei is younger, maybe a little smarter behind the boards sort of like that kid in The Wizard. Despite the kid-friendly sound of “Gamez” off his mixtape hosted by Clinton Sparks, he’s proven age ain’t nothing but a number with a résumé boasting credits for Bun B’s “Hold U Down” and Ciara’s “Ride” remix. If music were really a video game, he’d probably be the kid still playing off his first quarter.

Video: Trey Songz “Yo Side of The Bed” (Co-Starring Keri Hilson)
It’s nice to see Trey take a minute from sexin’ down girls in a video to explore something with a little more depth. We applaud the salute to army families, specifically army husbands/fathers. We won’t get too philosophical or sentimental but we appreciate when artists show just a little more consciousness about the world around them. Also Trey we peeped the ugly cry. It takes a real man to ugly cry, dude.

Here’s the DOPE video for the track Akon and Keri debuted during the Grammys. It’s a charity track and the proceeds are to go to “underprivileged youth in Africa,” however that is the most general statement ever so we’re not gonna cosign that part til we know the exact details of who/what/when/where etc. Good song though!

This video is awesome and surreal, almost like Bjork directed it or something. Actually, if Keri went full Bjork and started wearing odd women’s clothing and/or costume outtakes from Kabuki theater we think it would be a really hot look. She could fully pull it off because she is 50 feet tall and has eyes that could slice through concrete. Akon could probably convince her to do this since he can convince anyone to do anything, as he is the original T-Pain. Wait, is Akon illuminati? If so, sorry man for blowing up your spot, but you should use your mind control powers to keep us from thinking such travesties. We want a Hypercolor prom dress! Also just realized we’re trying to change Keri Hilson in a video where she is telling us not to try to change her! That is concurrently messed up, meta and somewhat ironic.

Two of the most controversial artists in the game have joined forces to stir more controversy by recording one of the most controversial songs of the past decade. The controversy doesn’t end there though. Still swarmed in controversy from some earlier controversial statements, both Keri and NeYo are out to claim the “Most Controversial” title, with this, the most controversy-laden song since their last. “Which TWO of yall going home with Usherrrrr?” Hey, the man’s gotta make up for lost time, right? Songz on the other hand, sounds content to play the backseat to scene stealing cameos from Ursh and Miss Keri baby who thicken up “Invented Sex” so well, we forget about that other guy that was on here.

Kellz and Keri singing to each other over the radio Brown Sugar proposal style is way less salacious than we were hoping this video would be, but we guess there’s no proper way to illustrate lines like “you’re breakin it down like the chop shop” or “your sex got me gone/went straight to my dong.” (Wait, he says that, right?)
Fabolous ft. Keri Hilson & Ryan Leslie “Everything, Every Day, Everywhere”
Finally, a visual for the song I’ve been playing like crazy. The video for Fabolous‘ “Everything, Every Day, Everywhere” featuring the beautiful Keri Hilson and the musical mad hatter, Ryan Leslie, is here on the day of the release of his fifth album, Loso’s Way. Shot from a paparazzi’s eye view, we see the club…pretty ladies, champagne flowing and money, as well as Tamala Jones, Officer Ricky and Amerie. The video actually begins with a bit of an explanation in, “No matter where you go, they’re always there…” regarding the paps, of course. But maybe, Suite903 too.

You may remember the skeleton of “Everything, Everyday, Everywhere” in the above video of Ryan Leslie sucking on a talkbox while Keri Hilson makes it rain on herself and Fab is probably imagining he’s already in the club. The final version, now yours to have and to hold, will be appearing on Loso’s Way and on World Star players across America as the trio have just shot a clip for it. Fab doing that thing where he adds melody to his delivery but only to the point where it sounds like an elementary school teacher is poking him with a conductor’s wand to get it out of him. This is something for the radio.

Ryan Leslie, “Gonna Let This Luv”
Ryan Leslie is the gift that keeps on giving. His album just dropped in February, but the Harvard grad has released several singles since that either didn’t make the initial cut—or that he just can’t sit on til his next album. Leslie also takes to his blog to post up to date videos of him doing his thing in the studio, sometimes alone, sometimes with other great artists like Fabolous and Keri Hilson. It’s a good inside look into his creative process and a chance to hear bits of what’s to come.
