TECLA is the Ringleader of a New Electric Circus

tecla-house-of-yes

The idea of guys and girls playing games with each other normally does more bad than good. Can you blame either party though? Sometimes it just takes a while before the real person takes off their mask and shows their true colors. When you listen to TECLA it’s as if she’s gifted with Superman’s X-ray vision to see past the B.S., for the person who real enough to cut the cheese without the feeling of embarrassment. Maybe that’s too weird, even for TECLA who puts everything out there from exploring sexuality to the concept of “good hair.” We applaud her for her unabashed stream of consciousness. Tonight New York gets to tour her mind when she brings her casual style of electro-pop to the House of Yes. To get you familiar, hit the jump and listen to “Life of Luxury” from her album released this April, and her remix from Jade’s IMHC Remix EP.

Video: Jade<3 Talks About Remixing IMHC

jade-suite903tv

Finally! The 8-month process of recording, mixing, and mastering Jade’s collection of remixes for her IMHC remix EP is finally over. It was high time for her to let loose at RdV in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District; so loose her 17 tracks from the album shook up the cobblestones outside. She made magic happen inside too, getting upstart producers and rappers to be smitten by their own work. The love was everywhere, even in the strange projection of a man and woman behind us. Watch the interview after the jump.

Download: MeLo-X Mustafa The GodKing: Rise of The Merch Album

melo-x-mustafa-the-god-king

Without warning, without reservation of any kind, MeLo-X has declared his new album Mustafa The GodKing: Rise of The Merch. Well, a little mention of another strong effort like Mustafa’s Renaissance was in the works, just no said date as to when it would arrive. MeLo, and his management were confident in his next release during MeLo’s recent DJ set a few weeks back at the new pop up shop for VANE, a burgeoning apparel/accessories brand and media company active in following MeLo’s exploits between beats, rhymes, and life. The album is a labor love because MeLo is hands on creating every single detail from the music to shooting the album cover himself. Outside of being a complete MeLo production embracing his stance as an MC and a ladies man, he’s limited his guests to oft-collaborators like Jesse Boykins III, and J. Carmelli of Blind Benny (and Jade<3). Check out a sample from the album after the jump, plus tracklist and link to the album.

Jade Introduces Blind Benny with B-Sides Remix EP

jade-blindbenny-bsides-art

There’s still a lot of wear left in Jade’s It’s My Heart Cookie EP from last year. All it takes is remixing to turn a slept-on album about love hangovers and heartbreak into this year’s unforgettable fling that will never leave. There’s just one string attached: don’t call her Jade, she’s going as Blind Benny, not to confuse her original name with ’90s one-hit wonders, or an awful David Caruso flick that should never see the light of TNT.

The rest of the b-sides is a rejuvenated impression of Blind Benny that we didn’t get to see in some of her more melancholy material produced by GFC-NY’s Precize and Cool Kid Chuck Inglish. She’s just putting music to the process—break up songs result in make up songs, it doesn’t take a virgin to figure that out. What she’s got on her hands with this re-introduction is seduction on wax… candles are welcome too. Look for the full length remix project this spring.
