Flying Lotus, “Quakes” MP3

This twitchy bass number is an outtake from Flying Lotus’ next album, and sounds like a screwed down percolator. Feels like he definitely went into mind spiral for this one but it’s got a weird kind of swing.

Video: Jose James, “CODE”
Your mans Flying Lotus produced this little slow burner for Jose James, who is clearly as chill laying down tracks as his vocals sound. You think he drank a little vino before this video was shot?
Jose James, “Made for Love” MP3

Jose James is made for love and also dreamy-ass chilling on this Flying Lotus-produced track from the forthcoming Blackmagic, which Gilles Peterson’s label is dropping on the first of Feb. Not only are Flying Lotus’s woozy beats on dude’s record, but he got Taylor McFerrin (Bobby McFerrin’s son, y’all), DJ Mitsu (star of Suite903 podcast 003!) and a few more. If this first single is any indication, you’re gonna need candles, wine and A WARM BODY to feel his groove.

Video: Andreya Triana, “I Love You More Than You’ll Ever Know”

This live video of Brit singer Andreya Triana covering Donny Hathaway was too incredible to pass up, even though we’re not super hype on really-far-away sets filmed at something called “Book Slam” (?). Her voice is full-on butter, and she’s been working with experimental producers like Flying Lotus and Bonobo that add a unique dimension to her gorgeous pipes. (via Hattie C)
Nadsroic, “Leopards”
Nadsroic, a twenty-two year-old Scottish singer trained in Celtic folk music has linked up with Hudson Mohawke to release The Room Mist EP. Mohawke, who as far as we can tell, does not even sport a mohawke, has made quite a name for himself as Scotland’s go-to producer and could soon be the most famous Scot in the states since Groundskeeper Willie. The Room Mist EP is set to release May 11th and should be well worth bothering a store clerk to fetch it should you have to cop it from one of those specialty record stores where they store the imports on a high ass shelf that customers aren’t supposed to touch.
