Drake, “Over” Mp3

drake
Dear Drizzy, a lot of times we find ourselves in a room with people we really don’t know and we also ask: who the FUCK are these dudes? Eventually we just had to say: we’re over it. Now we’re thinking maybe we should just put the hook of this song on loop til everyone gets the hint? Let us know how you feel about that. Either way we WILL be bumpin this hotfiyah all spring til your album drops and we can finally tell everyone that our friends at FADER told them all months ago. Also, between you and Nicki our twitter timeline has been going straight almonds and cashews. What? You like pistachios? Man that’s weak but we forgive you. We’re getting a Suite-mobile this summer and this joint will def be blasting out the windows when we cruise through the streets airing out the shag carpet we’re gonna have in the back. You know how hard champagne diets can be on your furniture. Yes, the carpet will be fox. Haha, that’s what she said. Love, Suite903 -Judnick Mayard

Video: Nivea f. Rasheeda, “Say Something”

Nivea and our fave underrated rapper Rasheeda flipped Drake’s ubiquitous radio hit and it jams. But we’re wondering if Nivea is talking about Wayne or Dream? We’re gonna go with Weezy, obvs, but it also must suck to see the dude you divorced marry some other lady. At least she can translate it to vocal emotion.

Drake, “Successful (Lost Verse)”

aubrey-drake-graham

As we get (presumably?) closer to the sometime-in-2010 release of Drake’s debut album Thank Me Later, music featuring unheard Drake verses, guide tracks for other artists and even unfinished songs are leaking to the internet with the consistency of rain water through a mesh hiking boot. Poor little Drake just can’t seem to keep his studio recordings in the studio. It may be that public demand is just too great for engineers to pass up letting sessions slip through their firewalls, but this betrayal can prove hurtful to Canada’s chosen one like in the case of this “Successful” verse, which just makes us wonder why he didn’t save the whole song for himself.

CYRIOUSLY: The Life & Times Of Christopher Maurice Brown

chris

Every week, Cyrus Kyle Langhorne pulls no punches on the topics at hand. This week: Chris Brown’s oversharing problem.

(laugh)

Apologies Freeway-earrrrrrrrly for “attempting” to title drop something that does not automatically categorize me in the “another Chris Brown posting..ughh….” state of mind for some of the readers out thurrr…(c) Chingy, 2003

When it comes to music, common knowledge and du-rag giveaway hints would lead my judges to place me in the “he’s a rapppper” talks, but truth be told, I’m a music lover to the core. Sure, I might be able to spit a hot Biggie Smalls 16 bars off the dome piece while doing that Tony Yayo hand dance, but at the same time, I’m able to finish off by saying “…but you don’t hear me though” and then calling up wifey to soak up the hot tub and toss on some Al Green at the same time. Video: Timbaland f. Drake, “Say Something”

Timbaland’s Shock Value II is out today and we’re hoping it’s just a little more “shocking” than its predecessor. “Say Something” featuring hip hop golden boy Drake is a good start. Tim’s raps have always left something to be desired but bookended by Drake’s fuzzy lament, he sounds confident in his own mediocracy. In the video nothing really exciting happens, but Drake reaffirms his omnipresence with some dogmatic hand movements. Believe him.

Alicia Keys f. Drake, “Unthinkable (I’m Ready)

keys
Ms. Keys’ album is leaking all over the place and so far it’s all terrifically good. Almost makes up for being forced to hear (the also excellent) “Empire State of Mind” every three seconds every day since before Blueprint 3 dropped in New York. This is the smoothest jam and features Keys as we like her most… singing in the lower ranges, not belt-shouting, using the subtleties of her voice to the fullest extent, telling her new dude she’s ready to get down to business. Drake just does light sensual vocals in the background but it works.

Timbaland f. Drake, “Say Something”

drakecover

Of all the people to bow Drake’s well earned omnipresence, Timbaland is probably one of the few who Drake had dreams of working with when he was still a little wheel chair-bound Jimmy writing raps in his trailer between scenes of DeGrassi. “Say Something” works because it sounds like Timbo is saying everything Drake told him to and Drake, well, he lives for this kind of stuff.

J.Holiday Serves Up “Ether” To Drake

YouTube Preview Image
Why do we always fall victim to these stunts? But being the ample news providers to you R&B heads out there, we have to stay on our toes like a Ballerina © Lloyd Banks. Turns out this newly released track called “Brand New” (No Rhymefest, relax…) dropped over the weekend and it’s J.Holiday going the “Ether” route on Drake. Rather than opting out of doing the typical “Bloggers Gone Wild” move and explaining why J.Holiday’s credibility does not stretch longer than giraffe necks, let’s just break down a few of the lines from the track and hold our breath until @JHoliday confirms/denies the record is really his.

First up, there is the ‘oh so original’ cursing and smooth tone which only an R&B kid (T-Pain, you don’t count) could do, right J?

“Ain’t trying to start no drama but I’m through with it/Can’t stand those rap niggas who tryin’ to sing/Tryin’ to take what’s mine/Always in my shine…Tell me when you will just rhyme/Spit your 16’s just right/Stop trying to do me.”

Wow. Uhm…could we have had a “pause” insert following that last bar? In all truthfulness, we know that’s not J. Holiday but can’t say it’s “not” him yet, the jab isn’t too bad. Or at least, it’s not as bad as, let’s say, T-Pain’s “Karaoke” diss track—which was Jay-Z’s “Death of Autotune” before “Death of Autotune— to all rappers including 50 Cent, Yung Berg, Snoop Dogg and your other favorites.

Continuing on with the two-minute song, the “alleged” Holiday diss track serves up a few Nice & Smooth-toned slams:

“See it’s time to make a change/You’re fucking up the game/Why can’t y’all do something brand new…Ain’t trying to talk no politics/But y’all not serious about this music shit/And I can’t understand how y’all be making hits/Seems like you don’t grind, famous over night/There’s other niggas who deserve your spot…even some of them paved your way.”

While there are insider blog heads saying this record is a publicity stunt on Holiday’s behalf, others are already laughing straight to the cyber-banks claiming this is a failed attempt by some R&B kid being labeled “J. Holiday” while the proof doesn’t match the pudding…wait, that makes sense, right?

Regardless, whether this is Mr. “Bed” or an up-and-comer trying to take a shot at Drizzy, they should take a second and wash their face-off and check out what Drake has done for both hip-hop plus R&B…from creating a fusion between both genres, sparking a more centered focus on fashion and appearing on one of the most relevant magazines out right now, The FADER, it’s time for everyone to pay homage… Or as Hov would say, ‘Do not throw rocks at the throne…’ It’s officially Year of the Drake! -Cyrus Kyle Langhorne

Drake Makes It Rain Yeezy, Weezy & Shady

YouTube Preview Image
Don’t get it twisted, you’re still rocking with the best…Suite903, but this thing right herrrre….Drake snagging along Lil Wayne, Kanye West and the Great White Hype, Eminem all on one track? Incredible.

While Drake has gotten everyone from your baby’s mother to your grandmother wanting their panties (and adult pampers) personally autographed, it’s this latest single from LeBron James’ upcoming “More Than A Game” documentary called “Forever” which has literally put the Internet game on pause (minus the police). Although we personally admit Yeezy, Weezy and Shady held their own…the newest R&B meets Rap meets E! meets The FADER…well, you get it…Drake is more than just your average rapper…listen to the audio yourself and follow the leader’s lead:

Download: Drake f. Kanye West, Lil Wayne & Eminem, “Forever”
(via Nah Right)

“Last name Ever, first name Greatest,” Drake raps on the introduction to “Forever. “Like a sprained ankle boy, ain’t nothin’ to play with/Started off local, but thanks to all the haters I know G-4 pilots on a first name basis/N*ggas said he faded off the Brown/Nino, she insist you got more class/We know, swimming in the money come and find me, Nemo — Dropped the mixtape sh*t sounded like an album/Who’d thought a country ride tour would be the outcome/Labels want my name, sign an ‘X’ like Malcolm/Everybody got a deal, I did it without one…” (”Forever”)

Just for the record, not only do I not know G-4 pilots on a first name basis, I also can’t remember my Apple G4 laptop’s username…Drizzy is living the “Good Life” for sure…so when you total it all up…you have his “Best I Ever Had” collaboration with Lil Wayne. “Off That” courtesy of Jay-Z. “(Untitled)” mystery track with Diddy. “Digital Girl” with Kanye West, and now…without even dropping his debut album Thank Me, Later , he’s already snagged a collaboration with Eminem?

Forget hip-hop’s savior, Drake is changing the game like the Reggaeton movement in 2004 (fortunately, the powers that be [record label executives] actually believe in this trend…)….R&B has been officially injected with such a powerful dose of that “Halle Berry” ‘Make me feel, gooood,’ that we may notice a trend….T-Pain showed a few how to do it, but could we be on the verge of a surge of rapping singers? Hhmmm…well, putting those thoughts to the side…just keep in mind the song is “supposedly” going to be officially released via iTunes Friday (August 28) and the new documentary is set to drop this October… Eh, it’s the Internet, we can’t help with the sprung leaks, but we sure will let you guys know about ‘em! —Cyrus Kyle Langhorne

Jamie Foxx f. Drake, The-Dream & Kanye West, “Digital Girl (Remix)”

Drake doesn’t only dress up like Kanye, he can also make himself sound exactly like him! For the remix to “Digital Girl,” and the ensuing video, Jamie Foxx recruited more or less everyone who’d been filling up his iPod playlists that month and invited them to come hang out inside of Tron. How The-Dream was able to sneak a fitted hat into digital land is beyond us, but the song is a nice turn on the ever present technological love meme.
