Recap: The-Dream Melted Our Minds Last Night
The way to The-Dream was down down a gazillion flights of stairs at the Hudson Hotel. It took us through a leery hallway with black lights leading into a cavernous space filled with free beer and hope. It seemed like everyone was everybody else’s friend. The room was pulsing with that buzz that only happens at the beginning of the summer when anything can happen and all dreams can come true—seeing the two shining stars of summer music. After sweating it out to Wavves’ awesome set, hands start wringing and whispers could be heard through out the room “Is he coming?” “It’s already 10PM.”

The Bowery Ballroom opened its doors last Tuesday for a special 2-day experience of Ryan Leslie. Coming to the stage in black jeans, leather vest, denim shirt and black shades to match, Ryan was in character and ready to play. He went from hip-hop to R&B then switching it up with a few ballad selections. Ryan Leslie has no problem busting through genre boxes one might attempt to lock his music into. His creativity and genius are the product of his dedication—his Harvard degree in music are proof enough. Below is a short recap of six songs from last week’s performance.

Video: Quadron’s New York Debut Starts a New Wave of Followers

At the top of May this year, we met Quadron, our European neighbors in soul. The duo of Coco and Hannibal travelled long and far from Denmark to film for our monthly Suite903 Session. It was their inaugural New York performance, where they eased their way through three moodier versions of songs like “Pressure,” “Simili Life, and “Slippin.” Fast forward about a month later, they’ve found a place with New Yorkers who’ve either been following their previous work with the Boom Clap Bachelors collective, or fans of Quadron’s like-minded friends like Sa-Ra and Bilal.
