It’s the return of our third favorite interracial couple! (Sorry, Kimora and Halle been holdin it DOWN!) Stop frontin like you don’t get all “Oh shit I done lost my mind” when you hear / see Timbaland and Timberlake. They even have a black & white sartorial scheme and coordinated dance moves. Also we might have to quit writing and open our own Burlesque Drive-In. We think that’s exactly what New York is missing. Our lives, however, have been missing Justin Timberlake’s curlfro and we see that he is maybe growing his hair out. (The hats aren’t fooling anyone.) Just the quick sighting of curls on his head has blown the lid off of our dormant N*SYNC obsession frenzy from days of yore! OMG what if he’s going back to braids?!?! We cant take the thought that we might soon be standing eight hours outside of the record store waiting for the new JT CD. PSYYYCH we work for a music site! Check out Erik Rico’s take on the Sade classic “Sweetest Taboo.” With the much anticipated new Sade album coming out in February 2010, it looks like Erik might be the beginning of a coming Sade cover/remix trend. This track is the first release off of Rico’s upcoming Reworks Project, where he is working with classic tunes from the likes of Stevie, Marvin, and Al Green to name a few. Ms. Keys’ album is leaking all over the place and so far it’s all terrifically good. Almost makes up for being forced to hear (the also excellent) “Empire State of Mind” every three seconds every day since before Blueprint 3 dropped in New York. This is the smoothest jam and features Keys as we like her most… singing in the lower ranges, not belt-shouting, using the subtleties of her voice to the fullest extent, telling her new dude she’s ready to get down to business. Drake just does light sensual vocals in the background but it works.

Seems like the Rihanna camp is using the internet as a focus group. After the disappointment that was “Russian Roulette,” two more singles dropped on the internet this week. The first one “Wait Your Turn” is completely nonsensical. What is this song is talking about? Football? Sexual football metaphors? The first verse is about pitching and swinging (baseball?) so how did we get to fumbles?

The second single “Hard” is unbelievable. As in “I don’t believe you; you need more people.” Apparently all the studded leather has gone to RiRi’s head. Even Jeezy doesn’t add credibility to her hood pass. The song is much more upbeat and jams better than the previous two but I can’t say I see her as “the hottest bitch in heels” (Cough Beyonce.)

If these leaks tell us anything for certain its that we have no idea what this album is going to sound like. Apparently this one spans the schizophrenic spectrum, from suicide to sports to swagger as well as the fact that RiRi has suddenly regained her accent. The wait is ova but I’m still not sure it was worth it.—Judnick Mayard
