Glenn Lewis Plays Bobby McFerrin
Towards the end of “The Chase, Part 2″ on A Tribe Called Quest’s Midnight Marauders, before being corrected by his man “Extra P,” Q-Tip nearly dated what would go on to become timeless material. Sometimes it’s those minute details that help work stand the test of time. The same could be said about the titles of songs and albums, and in this case, the string of r&b flip-flops by Glenn Lewis. It’s been over seven years since Lewis had a hit song like, “Don’t You Forget It.” The scratch for another chart-topping fix with his next album, tentatively titled Remember Me, has us really scratching our heads.
Can Glenn overcome the curse of the one-hit wonder? The singer/songwriter’s second attempt at a follow-up to World Outside My Window (2002) is lead by a new ballad called “Don’t Worry.” On the record, Glenn pledges his allegiance to proving his love, and dedication, for which we almost want to see art imitate life in the form of more relationship-focused songs. We gotta give dude credit though: before Remember Me, the Canadian native teamed up with fellow T. Dot rep, Kardinal Offishall on “Back For More,” but never was formally released. Since the 2003 collab with Kardi, Glenn was slated to release his new album with Underdog Entertainment, the songwriting duo of Harvey Mason, Jr. and Damon Thomas (ex-husband to Kim Kardashian). Now that the collective parted ways Glenn’s looking to get right with a handful of songs on his MySpace page. Check out “Don’t Worry” below.
